Decimal, Fractional and American Odds — with examples
At visa odds are shown in three formats. They are three different ways of presenting the same probability — only the notation differs.
A winning example (Team A)
Suppose you bet on Team A to win with a stake of ৳200. The same odds look like this in all three formats:
Decimal: 2.25 — Total return = stake × odds
Fractional: 5/4 — ৳5 profit for every ৳4 staked
American: +125 — ৳125 profit on a ৳100 stake
If you win with a ৳200 stake, total payout is ৳450 (৳250 profit + ৳200 original stake). If you lose, ৳200 is gone.
Favourite team example (Team B)
The team more likely to win has lower odds. For Team B:
Decimal: 1.80
Fractional: 4/5 — ৳4 profit for every ৳5 staked
American: −125 — you must stake ৳125 to win ৳100 profit
When you see American minus odds, it means this is the favourite. If you win with a ৳200 stake, total payout is ৳360 (৳160 profit).
Multi bet calculation
Combining three separate selections creates a combined odds figure. Example: three selections with odds of 1.60, 1.70 and 1.90 — multiplying these together gives combined odds of 5.17 (approximately). A ৳100 stake returns ৳517 if all selections are correct. But if even one is wrong, the entire ৳100 is lost — multi bets carry more risk, so start with small stakes.
How odds change when a wicket falls
Live in-play betting at visa means placing bets at any point while the match is in progress. In cricket every ball is new information — odds change instantly when a wicket falls, a big six is hit, or an over produces few runs.
Suppose Team A is batting and has reached 85 runs in 10 overs without losing a wicket — at that moment Team A's odds to win will shorten because they are ahead. But if two wickets fall in the very next over, the odds can rise quickly.
